Letter to the Editor VLBI difference astrometry at 43 GHz

From 43 GHz VLBA observations of the pair of radio sources QSO 1928+738 and BL 2007+777 we have demonstrated the feasibility of precision phase-delay differential astrometric techniques at millimeter wavelengths. For a pair of sources with 5◦ separation and high antenna elevations, we have shown that present astrometric models and millimeter arrays are advanced enough to model the differential ...

VLBI imaging of extremely high redshift quasars at 5 GHz

We present very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) images of ten very high redshift (z > 3) quasars at 5 GHz. Most of the sources are resolved and show asymmetric structure. The sample includes 1428+423, the most distant radio loud quasar known to date (z = 4.72). It is barely resolved with an angular resolution of about 2.0×1.4 mas.

GHz VLBI

We report on phase-referenced 23 GHz Very-Long-Baseline-Interferometry (VLBI) observations of the type IIb supernova SN 2008ax, made with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) on 2 April 2008 (33 days after explosion). These observations resulted in a marginal detection of the supernova. The total flux density recovered from our VLBI image is 0.8±0.3 mJy (one standard deviation). As it appears, t...

VLBI observations in Cluster-Cluster mode at 1.6 GHz

We describe, and present preliminary results from the analysis of 1.6GHz VLBI observations, made in Cluster-Cluster mode between subgroups of antennas from the WSRT, VLA and MERLIN arrays. We observed for two 6-hour periods on consecutive days, simultaneously monitoring 4 compact radio sources with angular separations ranging from ∼1 to 9 degrees. The data were recorded in a non-standard MkIII ...
